Congratulations to Prof. Li Yiwen on receiving an Honorable Mention for the Joseph Levenson Prize (2025)
Prof. Li Yiwen's book Networks of Faith and Profit: Monks, Merchants, and Exchanges between China and Japan, 839 - 1403 CE (Cambridge University Press, 2023) has received an Honorable Mention for the 2025 Joseph Levenson Prize (pre-1900 category). Since 1987, the Joseph Levenson Prize has been awarded each year in memory of Joseph R. Levenson by the Association for Asian Studies.

CityUHK Distinguished Lecture by Prof. Hans van de Ven successfully held on 28 August 2024
The Department of Chinese and History was privileged to host Prof. Hans van de Ven from Cambridge University for a CityU Distinguished Lecture on August 28, 2024. Entitled “The Great Occlusion: The End of Empire and the Emergence of a New Asia, 1945-1950", the insightful one-hour lecture received enthusiastic responses from the audience and was ended with a lively Q&A session.
