Congratulations to Prof. Li Yiwen on receiving an Honorable Mention for the Joseph Levenson Prize (2025)

Prof. Li Yiwen's book Networks of Faith and Profit: Monks, Merchants, and Exchanges between China and Japan, 839 - 1403 CE (Cambridge University Press, 2023) has received an Honorable Mention for the 2025 Joseph Levenson Prize (pre-1900 category). Since 1987, the Joseph Levenson Prize has been awarded each year in memory of Joseph R. Levenson by the Association for Asian Studies. The prizes are awarded to the English-language books that make the greatest contribution to increasing understanding of the history, culture, society, politics, or economy of China. The Joseph Levenson Prize represents the highest recognition of English-language books in Chinese studies. 

Prof. Li's book has already been translated into Chinese (《信仰与利益之网:僧侣、海商与中日交流(839 - 1403)》,冯立君、傅亭瑄译)and published by Peking University Press in 2025.
