Application

Please take note of the additional internship positions and the following:

  • Interested students are requested to submit an on-line application with a personal statement and reasons for choosing your first choice of internship partners (even if you applied it before).
  • A limited subsidy will be provided to students enrolled in UGC-funded programmes by University / Department. (Not applicable to students who had successfully participated before.)
  • Those who have already accepted departmental internship positions are NOT eligible for these additional internships.
  • It can be registered as a credit-bearing course or non-credit bearing course.
  • You are requested to attend internal and/or external interviews arranged by the Department and/or internship partners.
  • Internship partners reserve the right to decline any candidates recommended by the Department and conduct their own interviews if necessary.

Professional Internship Programme
AIMS
Striving for excellence in “applicable” scholarship and teaching, The Department of Chinese and History (CAH) continues to establish links with the community. Our Internship Programme assists students to arrange an institutional sponsor-based industry placement which provides real life working experience with leading organisations in local and/or international contexts for a period of full-time or part-time employment. With placements in public or private sectors, students are expected to gain in-depth and practical understanding of the professional contexts in which they may apply their related knowledge and skills.

PERIOD AND DURATION
Credit-bearing programme
CHIN
3 credits, full-time, 5 – 6 weeks (June – August)
6 credits, full-time, 10 – 12 weeks (June – August)
CUHM
3 credits, full-time, 6 – 12 weeks (June – August)
3 credits, part-time, no more than 17 hours per week (Semester A/B)

Full-time/Part-time non-credit-bearing programme
4 - 12 weeks

ALLOWANCE
CAH will provide subsidies to students enrolled in  UGC-funded programmes offered by CAH. 

ELIGIBILITY
The student interns are selected primarily from students who are enrolled in CAH’s major and minor programmes.

QUALITY ASSURANCE
Quality is assured because:
Initial screening done by experienced teachers of CAH
Compulsory pre-internship training particularly on business ethics and etiquette and interpersonal  communication skills provided by CityU 
Performance of the students will be jointly assessed by CityU and the internship partner
