CAH4536 Advanced Management for Cultural Professionals (2016 -17)

Teacher: Dr. Marianne P Y WONG

Students: 47 students majoring in BA Culture and Heritage Managment

In this project, students [final year] are requested to apply what they had learnt in the course and from all other related courses in Cultural Heritage Management to produce an exhibition from scratch. The projects gave students a chance to work with a large team, experience uncertainties and difficulties, and work within various constraints. Each group [48 students were divided into 10 groups, each in-charge of one sub-topic] was requested to write an exhibition proposal for venue application, and a budget proposal for the application for sponsorship from CAH. A certified project manager was invited to lead a 4-hour workshop, provided practical skills in project management. Each student, besides being a member of one of 10 groups, also chose to join one of the working teams, such as Site Team, Marketing Team. A high-light duty for all students was to locate target audiences, attract these audiences by innovative presentation and marketing skills. The exhibition [final accomplishment] was held outside Wai Hing Theatre for two weeks (31 March – 13 April, 2017). After the exhibition, every student had to write a 500-1500 word reflection, frankly pointed out what he/ she had learnt from the project, his/her achievement and shortcomings.
